power liftgate wont open on 2007 GMC Yukon Denali?

There has been a service bulletin for that type of concern. Here is what it states.

Body - Power Lift Gate/Liftgate Remains Locked

Bulletin No.: 06-08-47-002A

Date: March 28, 2007

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Power Lift Gate/Liftgate Remains Locked (Reprogram BCM and Lift Gate Module [LGM] with Updated Software)

Models:
2007 Cadillac Escalade
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
2007 GMC Yukon

with Power Lift Gate (RPO E61)

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to use Remote programming instead of Pass-Thru. Programming using the Remote method will prevent many, if not all, of the DTCs from setting in other modules. The labor time has been reduced to reflect this change. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-47-002 (Section 08 Body & Accessories).

Condition

Some customers may comment on any of the following conditions with the power liftgate:

^If the vehicle is locked and then the unlock button is pressed on the transmitter once for the driver's door unlock, a second time for all doors, and then a third time for the lift gate, the lift gate will be locked even though the other doors are unlocked.

^If the vehicle is already unlocked (all doors unlocked), and the unlock button is pressed on the transmitter once for the driver door unlock, the lift gate will be locked. Under these conditions, the lift gate cannot be opened in either manual or automatic mode using the exterior handle.

^The overhead console switch does not work.

Cause

Engineering has determined that these conditions are caused by software anomalies found in the BCM and in the Lift Gate Module (LGM) software.

Correction

DO NOT REPLACE THE LIFT GATE MODULE OR BCM.

Use the following procedure to reprogram the BCM with software P/N 15901392, and PLGM with software P/N 15912911 (released with TIS broadcast March 5, 2006 or later) to correct this condition.

-----------

Dealer is the best option to get this software:-----------

BUT BUT BUT READ THIS ALSO :----

If you can open the gate manually but not via remote.

then in that case read as follows :---

Then you will want to check the power liftgate actuator and motor, to see if there is power when you use the remote to open it.

you will want to check all the fuses of course. Then if there is power to the actuator and liftgate motor, that would indicate a bad liftgate module. Here is a pinout of the connector at it.

It is best to diagnos it with a scan tool, (like a tech 2) to be sure.

------------

Also inspect this:---
Is the master power switch in the center console turned on?

what is that?

Object Number:(NNN) NNN-NNNN Size: A2

To change the liftgate to manual operation, toggle the switch on the overhead console to the "Disable" position indicated by a circle.

Ok, please verify for me as this is often mistaken. The switch should be flush and not tilted one way. Also if you push the switch on the side that has the picture of the door, it should rock and then release. That released position is the on.
Two things to check; one, make sure the liftgate button on your overhead console is not rockere'd forward. That will lock the liftgate out. They stick that way sometimes.
Two, once you've pressed the release button on the hatch handle, give it a good yank. That may free the liftgate and allow you to open it. Then check for any obstructions on/near the latch loop, and inspect your latch in the door. It's spring loaded, so if it's stuck, give it a good bump and it "should" spring back to reset.
----------
YEs, there is a chance this is a fuse and I mentioned that a few replies back. THe 2 fuses for the system are the LGM fuse#74 in the fuse block under the hood and the OBS DET fuse in the end if the left dash when you open the door.

If the fuse is blown, replace it, but if fuse s checked ok, then module has to be scanned.Once you get error code, it will be easy to replace part as per error code.
you need to get the codes from the system. This is a computerized system and will set codes if there is an issue. These codes are retrieved with a scan tool. Dealers and other mechanics shops should be able to get these codes.
All the parts for this will be expensive, and yes the dealer or profession scan center is the only one to scan for bcm codes.
