How to remove power steering gear on 1999 dodge ram 1500?

The procedure is as below :---

Power Steering Gear

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Ram

1. Place the wheels in the straight-ahead position.
2. Disconnect the fluid hoses from the steering gear and cap the lines.
3. Remove the coupler pinch bolt and slide the shaft off the gear.
4. Matchmark the pitman shaft and arm and remove the arm.
5. Remove the steering gear fasteners and remove the gear.
6. Installation is the reverse of removal.

NOTE

The use of new mounting hardware is recommended. Alternately, use a medium strength thread-locking compound on the mounting hardware.

7. Be sure to tighten all hardware to the proper specification.
8. After adding fluid, carry out the power steering pump "Initial Operation" procedure.

Dakota, Durango

This procedure applies to early models not fitted with rack and pinion steering.

1. Place the wheels in the straight-ahead position.
2. Disconnect the fluid hoses from the steering gear and cap the lines.
3. Remove the lower coupler pinch bolt and slide the shaft off the gear.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Matchmark the pitman shaft and arm and remove the arm.
6. Remove the splash shield under the cooling module.
7. Remove the steering gear fasteners and remove the gear by lowering it through the opening between the cooling module and the frame crossmember.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.

NOTE

The use of new mounting hardware is recommended. Alternately, use a medium strength thread-locking compound on the mounting hardware.

9. Be sure to tighten all hardware to the proper specification.
10. After adding fluid, carry out the power steering pump "Initial Operation" procedure.
