I NEED TO REPLACE TIMING BELT ON MY ACURA TL.

I WANT COMPLETE DETAILS.

ALSO IF YOU HAVE DIAGRAMS,THAT WILL BE MUCH BETTER.

You can do this job.But its time consuming as well as very systematic job.

Do it in day time.Don't prefer to do it in night time.

note down each and every position of belt and timing marks before removing.After removing you will forget all this.

So dont forget to note down.

If possible take pics of this job,that will give more help,while re-assembly.

2001-03 TL-S Models

To remove the engine-to-chassis side mount, located at the front of the engine, perform the following procedure:---------
2. Using a floor jack, position a cushion between the jack and the oil pan.
3. Raise the engine slightly to take the weight off of the side mount.
4. Remove the side mount-to-engine bracket bolt, the side mount-to-chassis bolts and the side mount.

Remove the dipstick and the dipstick tube-to-engine bolt; then, pull the tube from its O-ring mount. Discard the O-ring.

Turn the engine to align the timing marks and set cylinder No. 1 to Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke. The white mark on the crankshaft pulley should align with the pointer on the timing belt cover. Remove the inspection caps on the upper timing belt covers to check the alignment of the timing marks. The pointers for the camshaft pulleys should align with the marks on rear upper cover mark.

Using the Holder Handle and the 50mm Offset Holder Attachment tool 07MAB-PY3010A and a 19mm socket, secure the crankshaft pulley and remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.

To install:

CAUTION

Do not rotate the crankshaft pulley or camshaft pulleys with the timing belt removed. The pistons may hit the valves and cause damage.

Set the timing belt drive (crankshaft) sprocket so that the No. 1 piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC). Align the TDC mark on the tooth of the timing belt drive sprocket with the pointer on the oil pump.

Set the camshaft pulleys so that the No. 1 piston is at TDC. Align the TDC mark on the camshaft pulleys to the pointers on the back covers.

Install the timing belt on the sprockets in the following sequence: drive sprocket (crankshaft), idler pulley, left camshaft sprocket, water pump pulley, right camshaft sprocket and adjusting pulley.

Install or connect the following:

Engine mount-to-engine and torque the No. 10 bolts to 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm) and the No. 6 bolt to 104 inch lbs. (12 Nm)
Lower and upper timing belt covers
Crankshaft pulley and finger-tighten the bolt and washer. Using the Holder Handle and the 50mm Offset Holder Attachment tool 07MAB-PY3010A and a 19mm socket with a torque wrench, tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm).

Rotate the crankshaft 5-6 turns clockwise so that the timing belt positions itself properly on the sprockets.

Set cylinder No. 1 to TDC by aligning the timing marks. If the timing marks do not align, remove the timing belt, then adjust the components and reinstall the timing belt.
