Stabilizer Bar Sway Bar & Links removal and installation procedure for all types of Mitsubishi car models?

The details are as follows :--------

Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and safely support vehicle.
3. Disassemble the links, remove the locknut, joint cup, bushing, and collar. Remove the sway bar link bolts.
4. It will be necessary to remove the center crossmember in order to remove the sway bar. The following steps are required to remove the crossmember:

1. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
2. Properly support the engine, remove the engine roll stopper bolts. Remove the four center member mounting bolts and remove the center member assembly.
3. Remove both steering rack mounts.
4. Disconnect the lower control arm from the crossmember.
5. Support the crossmember, remove the mounting bolts and lower the crossmember for access.

1. Remove the sway bar mounts and remove the bar from the vehicle.

To install

NOTE

Note that the bar brackets are marked left and right.

1. Position the sway bar in the vehicle, then install the crossmember in the reverse order it was removed.
2. Install the sway bar mount brackets, and tighten the mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
3. Connect the sway bar links and tighten the bolts with rubber bushings, until the amount of bolt protrusion at the end of link mounting bolt is 0.87 inches (22mm).
4. Lower the vehicle and connect the negative battery cable.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the sway bar links by removing the self-locking nuts.
4. Remove the sway bar mounting brackets and bushings.
5. Remove the bar from the vehicle.
6. Inspect all components for wear or damage, and replace parts as needed.

To install:

1. Install the sway bar into the vehicle.
2. Loosely install the sway bar brackets on the vehicle.
3. Align the side locating markings on the sway bar, so that the marking on the bar, extends approximately 0.40 inches (10mm) from the inner edge of the mounting bracket, on both sides.
4. With the sway bar properly aligned, tighten the mounting bracket bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
5. Connect the sway links to the damper fork and the sway bar. Tighten the locking nuts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
6. Lower the vehicle and connect the negative battery cable.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle and support safely.
3. Remove the front exhaust pipe and engine undercover.
4. Remove the left and right frame members.
5. Remove the sway bar link.
6. Remove the sway bar brackets and remove the sway bar from the vehicle.

To install:

1. Note that the bar brackets are marked left and right. Lubricate all rubber parts and install the bushings, the sway bar and brackets.
2. Install the sway bar link.
3. Install the frame members.
4. Install the engine undercover and exhaust pipe.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and safely support vehicle.
3. Unfasten the stabilizer link mounting nuts.
4. Remove the stabilizer link.
5. Remove the stabilizer bar bracket.
6. Remove the bushing, then remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.

7. Inspect the stabilizer bar, bushings and bolts for wear, damage and/or deterioration and replace as necessary.
8. If the stabilizer link ball joint dust cover was damaged during removal, it can be replaced, as follows:
   1. Remove the clip ring with a small prytool, then remove the dust cover.

To install:

1. To install the dust cover, perform the following:
   1. Apply multipurpose grease to the inside the dust cover.
   2. Use plastic tape on the stabilizer threads, then install the dust cover on the stabilizer link.
   3. Secure the cover using the clip ring. When installing the clip ring, align the ends at a 90° angle from the axis from the axis of the stabilizer link.

2. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
3. When installing the stabilizer bar, position it so the marking on the bar and the edge of the bracket becomes the reference value, then tighten the stabilizer bar bracket mounting bolt.

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Remove the center member.
3. On 2.4L engine, remove the stay pan.
4. Remove the lower control arm.
5. Disconnect the stabilizer link. Disconnect the stabilizer bracket and bushing.
6. On the 3.0L engine, turn the steering wheel to the right to remove the left end of the stabilizer bar.
7. Remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.

To install:

1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
2. Check and adjust the front end alignment, as required.

NOTE

Prior to removal of the stabilizer bar, center the front wheels and remove the ignition key. Failure to do so may damage the SRS clock spring and render SRS system inoperative.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the power steering fluid. Remove the front under cover.
2. Remove the center crossmember. Remove the lower arm assembly.
3. Remove the driver-s side air bag module. Remove the steering wheel. Remove the column lower cover. Remove the clock spring.
4. Remove the floor console assembly. Remove the front scuff plate and cowl side trim. Remove the trunk lid opener cover.
5. Remove the accelerator pedal stopper. Remove the front floor carpet.
6. Disconnect the upper stabilizer link. Remove the steering shaft pad.
7. Disconnect the steering column assembly and steering rack connection. Remove the rear roll stopper connecting bolt.
8. Remove the front axle crossmember bracket. Remove the return tube clamp bolt and nut. Remove the pressure tube clamp bolt and nut.
9. Disconnect and plug the return tube connection. Disconnect and plug the pressure hose connection. Discard the O-ring.
10. Disconnect the pinch clamp. Pinch the steering column shaft clip with a pliers, and pull upward on the shaft to disengage the steering column assembly.
    
    NOTE

    If the steering column shaft is removed accidentally, remove the steering column assembly and be sure to insert the steering column shaft into the steering column.
11. From inside the vehicle loosen the three clips from the body panel, near the steering column to floor hole.
12. Use a transmission jack to hold the crossmember, and then remove the crossmember mounting nuts and bolts. Lower the crossmember with the rear roll stopper, then the stabilizer bar and steering rack.
13. Remove the steering column dash panel cover. Remove the steering rack linkage protector, on the 3.8L engine.
14. Remove the power steering rack bracket. Remove the rack retaining bolts. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.
15. Remove the stabilizer bracket, bushing and bar.

To install:

1. Align the stabilizer bar identification mark with the right end of the bushing. Install the stabilizer bar.
2. Position the steering rack in the vehicle and install the clamp and the mounting bolts. Be sure the rack is centered before connecting it to the joint assembly.
3. When installing the steering column dash panel cover pinch clamp, align the steering column dash panel cover notch -A- with the steering gear lug (arrow -B- and then install the steering column dash panel cover to the steering gear.
   
   NOTE

   When installing the clock spring be sure that the springs mating marks are properly aligned. If not the steering wheel may not rotate completely during a turn, or the flat cable in the clock spring could be damaged. This would prevent normal SRS operation and possibly cause serious injury to the driver.
4. After aligning the mating surfaces of the clock spring, turn the front wheels to the straight ahead position. Install the clock spring to the column switch.
   
   NOTE

   Turn the clock spring clockwise fully. Then turn it back approximately 3 ¾ turns counterclockwise to align the mating marks.
5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
6. Check and adjust the front end alignment, as required.

NOTE

Prior to removal of the stabilizer bar, center the front wheels and remove the ignition key. Failure to do so may damage the SRS clock spring and render SRS system inoperative.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the driver-s side air bag module. Remove the steering wheel. Remove the column lower cover. Remove the clock spring.
3. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe. Remove the center member.
4. Remove the stabilizer bar locknut. Remove the stabilizer bar rubber and collar.
5. Separate the lower arm and knuckle connection
6. Separate the tie rod end and knuckle connection.
7. Remove the steering shaft cover. Remove the steering gear joint connecting bolt.
8. Remove the rear stopper connecting bolt.
9. Use a transaxle jack to hold the crossmember in place. Remove the crossmember mounting bolts and nuts.
   
   NOTE

   Be careful not to lower the crossmember too much, otherwise the power steering return hose bracket may deform.
10. Lower the crossmember until the fixture, bushing and stabilizer can be removed.
11. Remove the stabilizer retaining bolts. Remove the stabilizer from the vehicle.

To install:

1. Align the stabilizer bar identification mark with the right end of the bushing. Install the stabilizer bar.
2. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
3. Check and adjust the front end alignment, as required.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and safely support vehicle.

2. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
