2AZ-FE Engines
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel lines.
- Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Drain the transmission fluid.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Front wheelsEngine under coversFront fender apron sealEngine cover sub-assemblyBattery cables and remove batteryAir cleaner assembly, brackets and inletsEngine stabilizing control rodOil cooler inlet and outlet hosesEngine mounting stay and bracketV-beltsSteering gear outlet return tubeUnion to connector tube hoseTransmission control cable assemblyHeater inlet and outlet hosesRadiator inlet and outlet hosesFuel pipe sub-assemblyEngine wire from ECU and junction boxEngine harness from engine compartment junction blockAlternator wiring and alternatorA/C compressor (Do NOT disconnect hoses)Front exhaust pipe support bracketFront exhaust pipe assemblyFront stabilizer link assemblyBoth front axle hub nutsBoth front speed sensorsSeparate both outer tie rod endsSeparate front lower suspension arm sub assembly, both sidesDrive plate and torque converter clutch setting bolts (6)Separate steering intermediate shaft assemblyAttach engine hoist4 bolts and 2 nuts from RH & LH frame side rail plate4 bolts and 2 nuts from RH & LH front suspension member - Carefully remove the engine assembly
To install:
- Lower engine and transmission assembly onto the engine compartment
- Install or connect the following:
RH & LH side rail plates; torque large bolt 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm) and small bolt and nuts 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm)RH & LH front suspension member brace. Torque large bolt to 63 ft. lbs (85 Nm) and small bolt and nuts 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm)Steering intermediate shaft assemblyDrive plate and torque converter clutch setting bolts. Torque to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).LH & RH lower suspension arm sub-assembliesLH & RH tie rod assembliesLH & RH speed sensorsLH & RH front axle hub nuts. Torque to 217 ft. lbs. (294 Nm)LH & RH stabilizer link assembliesFront exhaust pipe assemblyFront exhaust support bracketFuel pipe sub-assemblyTransmission control cable assemblyA/C compressor assemblyAlternator belt adjusting bar and bracketRH engine mounting stayEngine stabilizing control rodAlternator assemblyA/C compressor V-beltInspect drive belt deflector and tensionerAir cleaner assembly, brackets and inletsVerify vacuum hose connections - Refill the transmission fluid to the correct level.
- Refill the engine oil to the correct level.
- Refill the power steering fluid to the correct level.
- Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Check and adjust the alignment if necessary.
