- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Drain the transaxle oil.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
NOTEMatchmark the intermediate shaft and control valve shaft before removing.
NOTELeave the lines connected and securely hang the compressor.

AlternatorA/C compressor - Attach the engine to a suitable lifting device.
- Remove the mounting bolts and nuts from the frame side rail plates and front suspension brace.
- Carefully remove the engine/transaxle assembly from the vehicle.
To install:
- Install the engine/transaxle assembly into the vehicle.
- Install the engine mounting bolts and nuts as follows:
- Bolts A and C: 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).
- Bolts B and D: 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
- Install the A/C compressor. Tighten the mounting bolts in the sequence shown to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
- Refill the transaxle with oil to the correct level.
- Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
- Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Check and adjust the alignment if necessary.
