Oil Pump
INSPECTION
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Procedure and help is as follows:---
Inspection
- Remove the oil pump from the engine and disassemble it.
- Coat the relief valve with engine oil and check that it falls smoothly into the valve hole by its own weight.
- If it doesn-t, replace the relief valve. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
- Place the drive and driven rotors into the oil pump body.
- Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the drive and driven rotor tips.
- Standard tip clearance is 0.060 to 0.180 mm (0.0024 to 0.0071 in.). Maximum clearance is 0.425 mm (0.0167 in.).
- If the tip clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set.
- Using a feeler gauge and precision straight edge, measure the clearance between the rotors and precision straight edge.
- Standard side clearance is 0.030 to 0.090 mm (0.0012 to 0.0035 in.).
- If the side clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
- Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the driven rotor and body.
- Standard body clearance is 0.250 to 0.325 mm (0.0098 to 0.0128 in.). Maximum clearance is 0.425 mm (0.0167 in).
- If the body clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative battery cable to prevent possible airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the timing chain cover (refer to the timing chain procedure).
- Remove the 2 bolts, 3 screws and oil pump cover from the timing chain cover.
- Remove the drive and driven rotors.
- Remove the plug, spring and relief valve.
To install:
- Insert the relief valve and spring into the pump body hole, and install the plug. Torque the plug to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Place the drive and driven rotors into timing chain cover with the marks facing the oil pump cover side.
- Install the oil pump cover to the timing chain cover with the 2 bolts and 3 screws. Torque the bolts to 78 inch lbs. (8.8 Nm), and the screws to 8 ft. lbs. (10.3 Nm).
- Install the timing chain cover (refer to the timing chain procedure).
- Refill engine with engine oil.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Start the engine and check the engine oil pressure.
- Check that no leaks are present.
These details will help.
Thanks.
