Exhaust Manifold
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Procedure is Mentioned below:----
The Info for Both 3.6L Engine & 3.8L Engine is mentioned.
3.6L Engine
Left Side
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the left torque strut bracket bolts.
- Remove the left torque strut bracket.
- Remove the left exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
- Remove the left exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Remove the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Remove the exhaust manifold bolts from the left cylinder head.
- Remove the left exhaust manifold.
- Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
To install:
- Position a NEW exhaust manifold gasket onto the left exhaust manifold.
- Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the left exhaust manifold.
- Place the left exhaust manifold, exhaust manifold gasket and bolts as an assembly in position on the left cylinder head.
- Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the left cylinder head. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Tighten the ECT sensor to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
- Install NEW O-rings on the crankshaft position sensor.
- Place the left exhaust manifold heat shield in position.
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts. Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
- Install the left torque strut bracket.
- Install the left torque strut bracket bolts. Tighten the left torque strut bracket bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the right exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
- Remove the right exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Remove the exhaust manifold bolts from the right cylinder head.
- Remove the right exhaust manifold.
- Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
To install:
- Position a NEW exhaust manifold gasket onto the right exhaust manifold.
- Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the right exhaust manifold.
- Place the right exhaust manifold, exhaust manifold gasket and bolts as an assembly in position on the right cylinder head.
- Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the right cylinder head. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Place the right exhaust manifold heat shield in position.
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts. Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
Left Side (Front) Manifold
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableSpark plug wiresEngine oil dipstick and tubeLeft side lift bracket, if necessary2 bolts attaching the left exhaust manifold to the crossover pipeExhaust manifold
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
Exhaust manifold with a new gasket. Torque the studs and bolts gradually and evenly to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).2 bolts attaching the left exhaust manifold to the crossover pipe. Torque the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).Left side lift bracket, if removedEngine oil dipstick and tube. Torque the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).Spark plug wiresNegative battery cable - Run the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableFuel injector sight shieldAir cleaner assemblySpark plug wiresBrake booster heat shieldCrossover pipeEngine harness from the right hand engine lift hook bracketTransaxle fluid dipstick and tubeOxygen (O 2 S) sensorExhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) feed pipe bolt from the manifoldTransaxle oil level tube and sealExhaust manifold flange nutsFront exhaust pipeEngine lift bracketExhaust manifold
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
Manifold to the cylinder head and crossover pipe using new gasketsManifold mounting studs. Torque the studs and bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm), beginning at the center and working outwards.Engine lift bracketFront exhaust pipeFront exhaust pipe to manifold nuts. Torque the nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).Transaxle dipstick tube seal and the tubeEGR feed pipe to the manifoldO 2 S sensorSpark plug wires to the spark plugsEngine harness to the right hand engine lift hook bracketCrossover pipeBrake booster heat shieldAir cleaner assemblyFuel injector sight shieldNegative battery cable - Run the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
