Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
NOTE
The No. 1, 3 and 5 glow plugs are accessed through the wheel well.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Raise and safely support the vehicle.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
To install:
- Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
- Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
NOTE
Only the No. 2 glow plug is accessed from under the hood.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
- Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
- Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket. Install the power steering fluid indicator and position the power steering reservoir aside.
- Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolt and PCM.
WARNINGDo not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.
NOTEOnly one glow plug connector shown. - Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
To install:
- Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
- Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
- Install the PCM and tighten the bolt to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
- Connect the PCM electrical connectors.
- Install the ACL outlet pipe and tighten the clamps.
- Connect the coolant hoses to the ACL outlet pipe.
- Remove the power steering fluid indicator. Position the power steering reservoir mounting bracket.
- Install the bolts and power steering fluid indicator.
- Install the power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
- Position the upper air deflector and install the 6 pushpin retainers.
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the left exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Exhaust Manifold, Removal & Installation.-
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
To install:
- Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
- Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
- Install the left exhaust manifold.
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Release the latches and remove the engine cover.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
To install:
- Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
- Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
- Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
- Install the engine cover.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
