Removal & Installation:--
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Center the steering wheel and turn the key to the lock position. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Drain the power steering reservoir.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Front axle housingTrack rodPressure and return linesSteering coupling heat shieldSteering couplingSteering gear retainer boltsSteering gear
To install:
Steering gear. Torque the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Steering coupling. Torque the bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).Steering coupling heat shieldPressure and return lines. Torque the bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).Track rod. Torque the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Front axle housing
- Refill the power steering reservoir with fresh fluid. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times. The system will bleed automatically. Check for leaks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
