Removal & Installation
Procedure for both Left and right side:---
- Raise vehicle on a hoist.
- Remove the rear tires.
- Drain the fluid from the rear driveline module.
- Remove the rear propeller shaft.
- Remove right side sway bar nut if equipped.
- Remove left side sway bar nut if equipped.
- Roll sway bar down and out of the way if equipped.
- Remove the left side stay bracket bolts.
- Remove the right side stay bracket bolts.
- Remove the exhaust system up to the catalytic converter.
- Support the rear driveline module with a transmission jack.
- Remove the rear bolt at the driveline module.
- Remove the two side bolts at driveline module.
- Lower driveline module enough to gain access to the electrical connector and bracket.
- Remove the routing bracket bolt.
- Unplug the electrical connector.
- Lower the driveline module.
- Disengage axle shaft.
- Remove wheel if necessary.
- Remove nut and washer from halfshaft to left rear hub.
- Remove halfshaft from rear hub. If hard to remove or sticking, use a punch and hammer to tap out.
To install:
- Lift driveline module with a transmission jack while installing halfshaft.
- Install nut and washer halfshaft to left rear hub and tighten to 244 N·m (180 ft.lbs.).
- Remove breather hose from ECC.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install wire harness bracket and two mounting bolt and tighten to 10 N·m (89 in. lbs.).
- Lift driveline module into place.
- Install the two driveline module side mounting bolts and tighten to 102 N·m (75 ft. lbs.).
- Install the rear driveline module mounting bolt and tighten to 102 N·m (75 ft. lbs.).
- Install the right side stay bracket and bolts tighten to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.)
- Install the left side stay bracket and bolts and tighten to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.).
- Install the propeller shaft.
- Fill the rear axle with fluid.
- Roll sway bar into place if equipped.
- Install left side sway bar nut and tighten to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.) if equipped.
- Install right side sway bar nut and tighten to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.) if equipped.
- Install the exhaust.
- Install the wheels.
